Facts about the Chamber

What is a Chamber of Commerce?

It is a voluntary, not-for-profit business organization made up of businesses and individuals uniting together to advance the commercial, economic and civic interests of the community. It is dedicated to improving the "quality of life" for all citizens of the area.

It is not an arm of the city, state or federal government, and is the only organization representing the business interest in Des Plaines.

Who manages the Chamber of Commerce?

The Chamber is directed by a volunteer Board of Directors, representing retail, service and industrial sectors. The Directors are elected by the membership. A full-time, paid staff carries out the policies and operates the day-to-day activities of the Chamber.

What does the Chamber of Commerce do?

Through its program of work, the Chamber is dedicated to promoting, supporting and assisting the Des Plaines business community through effective communication and quality service.

As an extension of your business, the Chamber works on the big issues that you can't address successfully as an independent business person. By your membership investment, your business is hiring the Chamber as its silent partner.
